Norwalk Man Charged In $25K Darien Larceny Case

A Norwalk man has been charged after his alleged involvement in a $25,000 larceny case in Darien, police say.

Darien Police say officers took custody of Robert, Tricarico, 63, of Norwalk on Wednesday, Sept. 4 after an investigation showed that he failed to repay a $25,000 loan.

The initial report of theft came from an 82-year-old victim on June 21, 2016., according to police The victim reportedly told police that she loaned her financial advisor $25,000 several years prior to assist him in starting his own financial management company.

A promissory note was drawn up for the loan and indicated that it should be repaid to the victim by April 26, 2016 through monthly payments, according to police.

The victim told officers that she had never received any payments on the loan and that she didn’t say anything to anyone until she discovered that Tricarico had pleaded guilty in federal court to “wire fraud and the misappropriation of more than 1.2 million from an elderly client,” police say.

The victim also told police that she had tried to make contact with Tricarico numerous times but was unsuccessful, according to police.

Police say the victim’s nephew made contact with Tricarico, who told him on numerous occasions that he would repay the loan with interest. However, no money had been paid back by the time the report was made, according to police.

Tricarico was taken into custody and charged with first-degree larceny on Wednesday, Sept. 4 after being released from Norwalk Court.
